Ashley Judd reveals the details of Naomi Judd’s suicide.

Ashley Judd revealed several details regarding the death of her mother-in-law, singer and music star Naomi Judd, in an interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America. Judd stated that her mother was struggling with mental health issues.

“Her brain was hurting,” Judd said. “It physically injured her.”

Judd admitted that her mother had committed suicide. She said the family was hesitant about the news, “but understand that we’re in a situation where should we not speak up, there’s a chance that someone else will.”

Naomi Judd was part of the famous duo The Judds, along with her daughter, Wynonna. They dominated the charts of country music during the 1980s before Naomi Judd was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 1991. The news of her death came out in April, just a few days before her induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Ashley Judd said that the admiration and praise of her peers were not enough to be able to penetrate the mental illness of her mother.

Judd added her role as the person who discovered her mother’s body the day she passed away. “I am a victim of both grief and trauma after discovering my mother’s death,” said Judd.

There are additional details family members hope to keep secret; however, Judd has urged anyone suffering who suffers from mental illnesses to contact and talk to someone.
